Located in central Florida, BB's Animal Rescue and Nature Sanctuary (B.A.R.N.S.) was founded on the belief that animals are here with us and not for us. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we give exotic and farm animals another chance at life after abandonment, abuse, or neglect.
We work to build a more compassionate world through education and advocacy, reminding everyone that these creatures are individuals worthy of our care and respect.

A common, yet harmful, misconception is that all potbellied pigs remain small. The truth is, there is no legitimate breed known as a 'micro-pig' or 'teacup pig.' Piglets marketed with these deceptive terms are often the result of malnutrition and inbreeding. These unethical breeding practices lead to serious health consequences for the animals, including chronic illness, physical deformities, and neurological disorders.
-
Owning a pet pig is a significant, long-term commitment. The fact that many of our sanctuary pigs were once pets, highlights the responsibility involved. With a lifespan of 15–20 years, potbelly pigs require a proper diet, mental stimulation, and pig companionship to thrive.
-
Yes, we do facilitate the adoption of pigs to qualified homes.
While most of our animals are permanent sanctuary residents, others—especially our socialized more manageable pigs are available for adoption to appropriate long-term homes.
Adoption Process Highlights
Application Required: Potential adopters must fill out an application to ensure they have suitable housing, experience, and resources for the animals.
Screening: B.A.R.N.S. wants to ensure each pig goes to a safe and fitting environment.
Meet & Greet: You would likely be able to schedule a visit to meet the pigs in person to observe their personalities and ensure a good match.

To provide the highest level of care for the animals at our sanctuary, we must responsibly limit our intake. We are currently full and not able to accept new surrenders at this time.
Please contact us with details regarding the surrender. We will help you identify other resources and inform you of our soonest available intake opening. We evaluate each surrender on a case-by-case basis, taking all circumstances into consideration.
